We work to educate everyone so that menopause is understood, and women have equal access to appropriate treatment and support.
The Menopause Charity is dedicated to educating everybody, so that perimenopause and menopause are understood. We want to ensure everyone has equal access to appropriate treatment and support, so that no one suffers needlessly. To do this, we provide fact-based health information, education for communities and healthcare professionals and we listen to those experiencing and treating menopause symptoms.
We show how challenging menopause can be and the difference that evidence based-information and appropriate care and treatment can make; transforming something that can turn lives upside down into a positive and life-affirming experience for women and other individuals experiencing menopause, as well as those around them.
Hormones play a crucial role in our health. Before menopause, the hormones oestrogen and testosterone help to protect our hearts, bones, and brain. Post menopause however, the risk of heart disease, dementia, and osteoporosis significantly rises.
Only 55% of women have spoken to their GP about their perimenopause and menopause symptoms. That's far too little! In our experience, we've seen that when women have access to evidence-based menopause information, it helps them seek out relevant and appropriate care and treatment.
We work to empower people to seek medical advice, and in turn, we provide resources and education for healthcare professionals.
Together we can ensure women and other individuals experiencing menopause can access excellent menopause care.
We aim to inform, educate, listen and grow.
We have recently been awarded the PIF TICK, the UK-wide quality mark for health information and a sign of health information you can trust. This is important to us as we want to make sure that everyone has access to the information they need.
In October 2023, we delivered accessible information booklets for people with learning disabilities. Involving users, and experts in the process.
In January 2024, the charity launched a nationwide awareness campaign called 'Join the Dots'. The campaign raised awareness of the lesser-known symptoms of menopause and signposted to trusted information.
We are proud to have partered with Lil-Lets to tackle the stigma around menstrual health, especially during perimenopause. In this partnership, Lil-Lets UK has launched their Lil-Lets Extra Protection range designed specifically to offer comfort and security for those experiencing heavy periods, a symptom of perimenopause. Lil-Lets UK has also donated £16,000 to both The Menopause Charity and Endometriosis UK to support their work in providing resources and education to women navigating perimenopause and heavy periods.
