Welcome to Endometriosis UK.
We're the UK's leading charity for all those affected by endometriosis.
Endometriosis UK is the UK's leading charity for all those affected by endometriosis.
We are a powerful voice for those with endometriosis, driving up care standards across the UK, providing vital information and support, and bringing together the endometriosis community.
We work really hard, to ensure that everyone with endometriosis gets prompt diagnosis and the best treatment and support.
Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the uterus are found elsewhere in the body.
Each month, these cells react in the same way to those in the uterus, building up and then breaking down and bleeding. Unlike the cells in the uterus that leave the body as a period, this blood has no way to escape.
Symptoms can vary in intensity in those with endometriosis, and the amount of endometriosis does not always correspond to the amount of pain and discomfort experienced and not everyone with endometriosis experiences symptoms.
The most common symptoms of endometriosis are chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, bowel and bladder problems, painful sex, fatigue and difficulty getting pregnant.
While its symptoms may be debilitating, it's important that we also focus on how we can change the narrative around endometriosis, and help those who are affected live a better quality of life.
Lil-Lets has kindly donated £16,000 to help us continue doing our important work supporting those with endometriosis in the UK. In addition to this, Lil-Lets has also crafted their Extra Protection range to help those experiencing extremely heavy periods, manage their periods.
CEO, Endometriosis UK
I joined Endometriosis UK as Chief Executive in 2016. In that time I've been focussed on raising awareness, campaigning and building strong key relationships with healthcare practioners, researchers and policy influencers.
One of my highlights during my tenure at Endometriosis UK happened in 2020, where we were able to get Menstrual Wellbeing included in the school curriculum for England.
*Across our website we use words like 'women', 'girl', and 'female' but we believe language shouldn't be a barrier and we understand that periods aren't just for women and that not all women have periods. We want to enable people to be themselves and to choose what works for them. We believe everyone who experiences menstruation has a right to the products and information they need, without shame or stigma.
