How to Use Pantyliners

Whether you’re dealing with spotting, period leakage, unpredictable periods, or day-to-day discharge, pantyliners are great for extra peace of mind.

Pantyliners are a convenient and effortless way to stay fresh and protected throughout your cycle. Whether you need extra coverage during your period, a backup for unexpected leaks, or simply a way to feel fresher every day, Lil-Lets pantyliners are designed to keep you comfortable and confident.

First things first, what are pantyliners?

Panytliners are thin, absorbent pads that are worn inside your underwear to protect against leaks and keep you dry and fresh all day. Designed for a lighter flow, pantyliners can absorb day-to-day discharge, mid-cycle bleeding (spotting), sweat, and even period blood at the beginning or end of your period, when the flow is really light.

Our pantyliners are shaped for your perfect fit, and they’re lightweight and compact, so they’re super easy to pop into your bag and take with you on the go for a mid-day refresh.

How to use pantyliners in three easy steps

When it comes to how to use a pantyliner, simply follow these steps:

1. Wash your hands

As with all intimate products, maintaining good hygiene is essential. Be sure to wash your hands before and after use to keep yourself feeling fresh and protected.

2. Remove the backing strip

Grab your fresh pantyliner, remove the packaging, and peel off the backing tape to expose the adhesive. This is the side that will stick to the gusset of your underwear (the centre of your underwear that goes between your legs).

3. Insert the pantyliner into your underwear

Place your pantyliner on the gusset of your underwear with the sticky side facing down. Remember you can always adjust the positioning if you find it’s not quite right when you pull your underwear up again.

How often do you change a pantyliner?

There’s no set rule for how often you should change your pantyliner, but a good guideline is every 3 to 4 hours. Factors like your discharge, where you are in your cycle, and your activity level can affect how often you need to switch it out. The key is to change it as often as needed to stay fresh and comfortable.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pads and pantyliners?

Pantyliners are thinner, smaller and more discreet than pads and designed to be worn daily to manage discharge and your lighter flow period days. They are ideal as a back-up to tampons on your heavier flow days too! Period pads are longer and thicker than pantyliners and available in various absorbencies to manage a heavier menstrual flow.

Can I use pantyliners on my period?

Yes, pantyliners can be used in the early and later days of your period when the flow is lighter. However, for heavier flow needs, you should switch to a pad or tampons.

Do pantyliners cause yeast infections?

No, pantyliners don’t directly cause yeast infections, but if they are not changed frequently, they can create a warm, moist environment that may contribute to the growth of yeast. To stay fresh and comfortable, it’s best to change them regularly.

Can pantyliners cause UTIs?

No, pantyliners do not cause UTIs and are safe to use, but it’s important to practice good hygiene when using them and change them frequently.

Can I use a pantyliner to help manage mild incontinence?

Standard pantyliners are designed for daily discharge, a light period flow, or as a back-up to tampons and menstrual cups. They are not absorbent enough for moderate to heavy incontinence leaks. We recommend using pantyliners that are specifically designed with higher absorbency levels and better leak protection, just like our Lil-Lets Drylock range.

Can pantyliners cause irritation?

Yes, if you have sensitive skin pantyliners may cause mild irritation, especially if not changed regularly. To minimise the risk of irritation, choose breathable, fragrance-free pantyliners like Lil-Lets unscented range, which are designed for comfort and sensitive skin. If irritation persists, consider consulting a healthcare professional
